Valentine's Day 'haram in Islam'

Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah

If we want to find an answer to this question, it is important that we look to the origins of the holiday. Valentine's Day is actually SAINT Valentine's Day. Even before it was celebrated in honor of this Christian saint, it was a PAGAN holiday honoring a pagan god Lupercus, and also to honor another pagan god, Juno. After the advent of Christianity, when they could not stop the people from celebrating this holiday time, they coopted this day and named it St. Valentine's Day.Yes,it is Haram for us Muslims to celebrate.

So to ask YOU a question, do you as a person who believes in One God want to celebrate or remember in any way a day that was originally dedicated to false gods? Remember that shirk, associating another in worship with Allah, is the one unforgiveable sin if you do not repent from it. So a Muslim who wishes to safeguard his religion will stay far, far away from anything that has a taint of shirk. Rather than send a card or flower on this day, ignore it completely. Do not single it out in any manner. In this way you will please Allah, even if you displease people who do not understand the seriousness of this issue.

If you want to send flowers to your mother, father, brother, husband, wife, etc., you don't have to wait until this made-up date on the calendar. You can send a card to your brother if he's having a tough final exam. You can give your mom flowers on a dark winter day to give her some lovely color in the house. You can write a letter to your father anytime to tell him you love him and respect him and thank him for doing all he does for you. You can cook your husband's favorite meal or pay for a babysitter for your wife one day a week so she can take some time for herself. Muslims should not limit their loving expressions to a false date on a calendar. Rather we should seek out ways every day of showing our loved ones that we care. Trust me, they will NOT miss Valentine's Day if you love them all year round. And Allah knows best.

Accepting or giving gifts on such occasions is confirming these festivals especially on Valentine's Day, as this day is a slogan of the non Muslim in committing dissolute acts, fornication and adultery. So refraining from accepting or giving gifts on such a day is more confirmed in order to fulfill the religious benefit in condemning these festivals.
